By way of making introductions, Armchair BEA presented us with 10 questions, and participants were asked to answer 5 of them. So here are my 5!
1.What book would you love to see as a movie?
One book that I really wanted to see become a movie is already happening! It's Serena by Ron Rash. AND it's made even more awesome by the fact it's starring JLaw and Bradley Cooper.Be still my heart! I really hope it doesn't suck. I hope so much.
2.Share your favorite book or reading related quote.
“I have never listened to anyone who criticized my taste in space travel, sideshows or gorillas. When this occurs, I pack up my dinosaurs and leave the room.” -Ray Bradbury. Everyone try and be shocked that I picked a Bradbury, haha.
3.What is your favorite blogging resource?
Easy-other bloggers! Any kind of how-to question I always figure I know someone who can help me, book people being the friendly lot that they are. Also Pinterest is always a good go-to as well.
4. What was your favorite book you read last year? What's your favorite book so far this year?
So hard to narrow down! I will say:
2013:Company of Liars by Karen Maitland
2014: Your House is on Fire All Your Children Are Gone by Stefan Kiesbye
(Those are both pretty creepy books, generally I'm not that creepy)
5.What does your favorite/ideal reading space look like?
When I read I like to be sitting, generally with my feet up or slung over something. So in a perfect world something like:
Crate and Barrel |
Restoration Hardware |
Man if that Restoration Hardware one came in like a peacock blueish green and wasn't multiple thousand dollars I'd be allllll over that.
Or maybe something more like:
Yep, I like that |
Or perhaps:
I love the swings!!!! Those would be AWESOME! And I have to totally agree about the other bloggers being a great resource. I learned basic HTML skills from other bloggers. When I first started, I didn't have a clue how to do things like make boxes with scrollbars and how to insert pictures into posts and things like that. I learned as I went and everyone was awesome. Now I hope I am half as helpful as the community was for me.
ReplyDeleteLisa @Just Another Rabid Reader
I feel like there's so much that I don't know about the tech side of blogging, sometimes I feel overwhelmed. But little by little, I'm feeling better about it!
DeleteI love the chaise. It is nice to be comfortably reclined without feeling like you are in bed, or having to suffer through a dreadfully tacky recliner. Eek! The porch swing is pretty sweet too.
ReplyDeleteExactly, I can't read lying down. I don't have the willpower to stay awake or the arm strength to keep me from dropping the book on my face!
DeleteI would love to have a bed/sofa swing. That looks like the coolest thing ever. And it's nice to see another Bradbury fan around here! I feel like a lot of bloggers read contemporary fiction and skip over the amazing classics!
ReplyDeleteBrenda @DailyMayo
I try to incorporate a fair amount of classics into the blog. There are so many great ones and I don't want people to forget about them just because they aren't shiny and new!
DeleteThose are some really top notch reading chairs you picked out! Love them all :)
ReplyDeleteOh to have the budget and space to make them all my own. Maybe someday!
DeleteNever heard of the book or movie you picked. I'll have to go check it out.
ReplyDeleteThe quote made me laugh.
And I've got to say that first swing looks like a great reading location.
Oh, and the Musical is The King and I.
DeleteDing ding ding! You are correct. Now I've been singing it in my head all day!
DeleteLove the hanging bed/daybed and LOVE Ray Bradbury. Thanks for sharing a quote from him.
ReplyDeleteRay is my favorite. I have to contain myself from quoting him all the time! haha
DeleteLOL...I know what you mean. I also love looking him up on youtube and watching his talks and interviews.
DeleteOk what is Serena? I'll have to look it up! And can I mention how much I love that Bradbury quote?! It's fab!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Ashley, it's so good. So there's this handsome young lumber baron and he visits Baltimore for something for a short business trip. He finds, beds and quickly marries this super strong willed, avant gard (whoops spelling) named Serena. She's kind of ruthless and business savvy so he knows they will make a great team and totally monopolize the lumber business. But then it turns out she's craaaaaaazy. And then whole time that's going on the United States Forestry service is getting set up and people are pissed about that too. It's super good. It's historical too, I know that's your jam!
DeleteMy blogging resource is the same as yours. I'm forever harassing my fellow bloggers for their advice on this or that :D
ReplyDeleteOoh Bradley Cooper...hubba hubba!
I figure someone smarter than me has already figured out whatever I'm trying to figure out so why not at least ask! haha
DeleteI love the King and I reference. I'm so glad other book bloggers are prone to breaking out in show tunes! :)
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get that beautiful reading porch, make sure to invite us over!
Usually it's Sunset Boulevard, haha.
DeleteIf I ever got that reading porch all book people will be welcome to it! It'll be communal!
Love your ideal reading places, especially the indoor couch-swing. That would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd get anything done ever if I had one of those! haha
DeleteCreepy is good, and now I want a couch swing.
ReplyDeleteI love all your ideal reading spots. I have always wanted a nice shady place outside to read. That would be pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteSuper plush porch swing is officially on my "must have" list if I ever buy a house!
DeleteOh, you are the first person I've heard who's as excited as I am for Serena! I am looking forward to seeing Jennifer Lawrence in such a different role. I think she'll knock it out of the park. And then also, Bradley Cooper.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I'm so excited! I think you're right, Jennifer is going to be awesome! And Bradley is always good to have around just because. The story is so great I hope they dont change it much for the movie...
DeleteThose all look so super comfy! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat Bradbury quote.
He's super quotable!
DeleteI love creepy, so I definitely need to check out those recommendations! PS - I love the swings too!
ReplyDeleteGreat meeting you!
They're both really good, though there were definently
