I liked her style but not really this story...Library Educatedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11441826320547182219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6540649138800704991.post-54102992341761963862015-07-10T19:30:47.335-05:002015-07-10T19:30:47.335-05:00I have a love-hate thing with this book and Gilber...I have a love-hate thing with this book and Gilbert in general. I didn't know about her getting an advance like Kerry says, but there are parts which have a ring of artificiality about it. My little rant is here (wow, this was in 2008!): http://guiltlessreading.blogspot.ca/2008/12/i-decided-to-read-this-because-heard.htmlguiltlessreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14966826359454179677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6540649138800704991.post-77651028964724707082015-07-10T14:36:57.868-05:002015-07-10T14:36:57.868-05:00Someone told me about that just after I'd fini...Someone told me about that just after I'd finished reading the book and it colored my opinion too. I did find her writing style enjoyable, so maybe Ill check into her fiction too!Library Educatedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11441826320547182219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6540649138800704991.post-56392678508407077222015-07-10T13:28:36.320-05:002015-07-10T13:28:36.320-05:00When this was first coming out, I caught a publish...When this was first coming out, I caught a publishing story about how Gilbert had gotten the advance for her book before her trip (which, more power to her for pulling that off), which kind of tainted my opinion of the authenticity of the experience from the get-go. So I never read it (and based on this, not sure I missed much!). I've heard she's a greater writer, though, so do want to try her fiction.Kerry Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10624436758426097032noreply@blogger.com
